This journal is a place for me to communicate with all the visiters of The LUUvre in a broad and general manner. It will have information concerning news and updates of the site, as well as inspiring things that I think would be valuable to share with a like-minded audience. Check the most recent entries for pertinent information about the site, or feel free to type something in the search bar---it might be mentioned in older entries!

December 7, 2009 - Just Checking In

Beautiful Wanderer,

It's been about another month since my last post, and I have yet to update. My scanner is currently unavailable, and quite truthfully I haven't been doing much presentable painting. It's exciting and joyful getting ready for this holiday season, but also busy and I have much on my mind that has been making me feel less inclined to paint. I spend much time hoping this fog will life soon.

I dropped out of NaNoWriMo almost as soon as I started, but I think that is alright, I feel no regret. Last year I learned so much from it I could barely contain myself. But I think my lesson this time around is to not wait for outside opportunities to do the things I want to do. I was so intent on writing for NaNoWriMo that I kept myself from writing at all until November---then when the time finally came, I had very little internal excitement, motivation, or inspiration. So I think in a lot of ways I still very much learned from the experience.

Wishing you well as we enter these cold winter months,

Blesse Be,

Jordan Lynn Gribble

November 4, 2009 - NaNoWriMo!

Dearest Wanderer,

It's been nearly a month, my goodness, time does fly!

I have indeed been painting, but have yet to post the paintings here. I'm busy with many projects, both personal and for others.

I've recently discovered the wonder that is ATC/ACEOs! If you don't know what those are, basically they're little ard cards that artists trade between themselves, and that artists sometimes make available for purchase. They're like baseball or gaming cards, only with art. Quite exciting really, and for an artist, a great way to get in touch and socialize with other artists, and for non-artists, a great way to acquire a cheap collection of original art!

More info: Wikipedia

If you're an artist and want to trade, you can check out the cards I have posted on my DeviantART account, many of them are still available: frogmaster9@deviantart

And for those who'd like to buy, I'll have them posted at my Etsy shop soon.

But most likely the most prominent thing sitting on my mind for the month of November is my participation in NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month. I joined and participated last year, and it most assuredly changed my life as a writer! I very much look forward to getting to that 50,000 goal this year, but mostly in commiserating with other writers about the toil involved in extricating a novel from one's tired brain. ;)

Here's my profile at the NaNo website: frogmaster9@NaNoWriMo

If you're participating as well, we should be writing buddies! :3

October 6, 2009 - Updates!

Posted at 01:07 AM on October 07, 2009

Dearest Wanderer,

Well, there's one last little bug that I'm having trouble fixing, but it doesn't seem to interfere with the functionality of the site, so I think I'll have to let it be for now (you may have noticed how some pages have one background, while others have another).

Secondly, this concludes all the renovating and updating I've been doing! Please check out some of the new art that I've posted in the MUUseum. :3

And for any one willing to listen, I'd like to share a little jewel of a book I just found: "The Book of Awakening" by Mark Nepo is positively amazing. It's designed as a Daybook (a book from which you read 1 passage per day, presumably for a whole year) but so far I'm enjoying just sitting for moments on end reading its pages. It's utterly inspiring and uplifting, and I highly recommend it to any one with even the tiniest kernel of spirituality.

I'm pondering starting a series of paintings based on the book... we shall see.

I'm rather busy with other little things---I'm working the logo/t-shirt design for SWUUSI 2010, as well as a logo for a play I'm in that my Church here in Little Rock is putting on called "A Voice of My Own" (it's a fantastic play about women writers all throughout history) that I also happen to be acting in.

I think that concludes this particular JoUUrnal entry. Till next time!

October 5, 2009 - Construction

Dearest Wanderer,

We seem to be experiencing some technical diffuculties here at The LUUvre, not to mention that I'm doing a whole bunch of renovating in general.

If something isn't working the way it's supposed to, please let me know! Thanks for your patience.

I hope to have this done and resolved fairly soon... after that, hopefully this blog can be used for less mundane and secular matters. ;)

Blessed Be,

Jordan Lynn Gribble
